"I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace." Acts 20:24

To Tell of His Grace

Eternal Life

Both Brodie and I grew up not having a relationship with Jesus. We both believed in God but never really understood who Jesus was or what He did for us. As a result of that we both lived really just for ourselves and made a lot of bad choices which resulted in emptiness and brokenness. Just before we got engaged we got into a car accident and our physical therapist began to tell us about Jesus. We realized that we were missing God in our lives and started going to a great Bible-teaching church. We finally learned who Jesus is and what He has done for us...we learned that:

  • "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23  And that,
  • "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
  • "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23.

We both understood these truths and made Jesus 1st in our lives as our Lord...everything inside of us changed. He began to take our past hurts and shame and cover those areas; redeem those areas, and make us new! "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2 Cor. 5:17

We are still SO imperfect, SO broken and sinful at times...but we continually go to the ONE who can make us new and wash our hearts clean. He is the ONE who saved us from death and gave us the gift of eternal life with Him. The ONE who saved our marriage when it was headed toward complete disaster. The ONE who leads us as we try our best to raise up children who love Him.

We now try to live our whole lives for Him...because we KNOW that without Him we probably wouldn't be married, we wouldn't be looking forward to life eternally in Heaven, we wouldn't have a clue how to raise up our children in this world that is so full of evil. We are so grateful for the JOY and PEACE that Jesus gives us daily. Joy and Peace that do not depend on our outward circumstances but on our inward dependency on Him.

If you do not have this joy and peace that only Jesus can bring and you would like to make Him Lord of your life, the Bible is clear on how we are to do that:

"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Romans 10: 9,10

We first of all confess that He is Lord (in greek this means "master")... we trust Him as our Master and make Him Lord of every part of our lives. We believe in our hearts that He is who He said He is in the Bible...the One True Son of our Heavenly Father, the only way to the Father, the One who died for our sins and rose after 3 days.

Lord Jesus, I believe in my heart that You are Lord and that God the Father sent You to earth to die for my sins and He raised You from the dead...that You are now seated in the Heavenly realms above all powers and authorities (Ephesians 1: 20,21). Please forgive me of all of my sins and wash my heart clean. Help me to live for You and to learn more about Your love! Amen

The Gospel:
"Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time..." 1 Corinthians 15: 3-6
