"I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace." Acts 20:24

A Long Morning...

Miss Kaylee is SUCH a trooper! All summer long we have had ALL kinds of appointments ~ some that she loves like Speech Therapy with Ms Gina and Occupational Therapy out at Children's where she gets to play. And MANY that are just no fun at all...doctors, shots, pre ops, post ops, ultrasounds, etc...poor girl! She now knows when it's just her and I in the car that we are most likely going somewhere not so fun.

Well, today was the first appointment for all of her Genetic Testing...mostly just a couple doctors and a genetic counselor sitting around talking with Brodie and I. But all Kaylee knew is that she got her height and weight taken and that was enough for her to shut down and snuggle up in Mommy's lap the whole time ;) She got home, took a bottle and was ready for a good nap!

We LOVED these doctors...so knowledgable and yet so understanding of Kaylee Grace and all that she has been through in her short time home. I loved that they will only be testing her for what they felt was medically necessary right now and the rest they will just wait and see if it is needed down the road.

As the doctors sat with us, they told us how "courageous" we were for adopting her despite knowing there may be some unknowns down the road. Ha! We giggled, and Brodie told them that we were BIG chickens and we never would have even considered adoption apart from feeling Jesus so clearly lead us...let alone a special needs adoption!

I love how Jesus LOVES the least of these...He so fiercely loves the fatherless...He SEES them - all 147 million of them - sitting alone, broken, in desperate need ~  and then He moves. Moves on the hearts of those who are not even really aware of the needs that are out there. Those that are so engulfed in their own lives that they think they couldn't possibly add one more thing. Those that need that desperate broken child just as much as that child needs a loving family.

And Jesus loves ALL OF US as much as he loves the orphan. He cares about us. Even when we are so wrapped up in ourselves that we don't even see our need for Him. He reaches out to us, too. He moves on the hearts of people around us to point us to Him; to show us that He is the ONLY WAY...because He knows that we are just as desperate for Him as the orphan is. We NEED Him. Not only for eternal life, but He truly is the only way to have peace. The only way to have joy. The only way to have hope.  Apart from Him, there is no joy or peace or hope at all.

"The LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love." Psalm 147:11

When we started this journey, this genetic stuff is what our local doctors here warned us about...the reason they advised us not to accept Kaylee's referral...PRAISE JESUS that He is WAY bigger and He led us to her despite what may have been the "medically wise" thing to do!

So, she will have some blood work done and then we will go from there.

We have great peace...Jesus is the Prince of Peace. We feel confident that He knit her PERFECTLY for His great purpose...and whatever Miss Kaylee's purpose is, we are SO thankful that He invited us to be a part it :) She is the sweetest little bundle of JOY and we know His plans for her are great!

Beach Get-Away

We went to the beach a couple of weeks ago...it was so nice to get away to the beautiful coastal weather! It was Kaylee's first time seeing the Ocean :)  She loved it and even got to see a few dolphins and whales!
Walking down to the tide pools

Early morning crab catching

Finally got one - Keeg had to grab it because it was so hidden back in the rocks...it gave him a good pinch ;)

We went to the Avila Barn and fed the animals :) Kaylee got to see all the animals we teach her about in real life!

Kolson got right to his digging as soon as we hit the sand...and didn't stop till we left!

He even recruited a couple of great helpers :)

Cute kids

Surfer Keegan with Mermaid Kaylee :)

Kolson's turn

Brodie always has some type of stunt for us to try ;) He wanted to see if he could hold all his girls at one time ;)

Looking for dolphins...

Wahooo! We saw one!!!

Kaylee's "1st" Birthday Party

It's really her 3rd birthday...but her 1st party ever!!! We had a BLAST and she loved every minute of it :) We had a BIG celebration....since it was her 1st ;)  Water Slide Bounce House, Taco Truck, Yummy Cupcakes...FUN!!!
Our friends got her the most adorable birthday outfit... a personalized cover up with a cupcake on it! TOO CUTE!!! Kaylee loved it (along with the matching bow...adorable!)

The bounce house came early....our big kids ran out when Kaylee was napping to watch them set it up and were on it as soon as it was ready!

A snapshot of Sweet Kaylee's life...pictures from her finding ad (probably around 6 months old) to her referral pics, China, homecoming, surgeries and now!)

"The LORD has done great things for us
and we are filled with joy." Psalm 126:3

Cousins!

Finally Kaylee woke up and had a turn...didn't love it (can you tell?) but went over and over until the guests came - then she took a break and pulled up a chair to watch them go on it and cheer for them ;)

Happy Birthday Kaylee Grace!!!

Kaylee is 3 today!!! She LOVED having Happy Birthday sung to her over and over...by the end of the day she was trying to sing along ;)

Here she is with her Birthday scooter and new shoes (she always puts the big kids' tennis shoes on...we decided it was time for her 1st pair of tennis shoes...she LOVES them and we're pretty sure that she really thinks she can run faster in them ;)

Grandma Carol came in town today so we had a special visit from her ;)

Posing with her new high heals that Grandma got for her bday

Thank you, Grandma!

A purse, necklace and bracelets too!

 Happy Birthday, Kaylee Grace!!!
May Jesus FILL you with His amazing love every day of your life till you are overflowing!!!!!

We LOVED spending Kaylee's 1st official birthday celebration with her today :) So glad the big kids were home to share the whole day with her. They took her swimming (her favorite), played whatever she wanted to play, went by Nana's house to play for a bit, and Kols even suggested that we not put baby food in her bottles today since it was her special day ;)  (He knows it's not her favorite ;)

Family Pictures ~

We had NEW family pictures taken last night and I LOVE them!!! So excited to have family pics with Kaylee smiling...a PRICELESS gift from our dear friend Stacy ~ she has a truly amazing gift of capturing personalities perfectly :)

Here are just a few...more to come tomorrow!

Kaylee had such a rough day and I was worried we wouldn't get her to smile...we prayed on our way out to my sister's house (this beautiful property that we are on) and she was ready to go when we got there! SOOOO thankful!!!
