A Long Morning...

Miss Kaylee is SUCH a trooper! All summer long we have had ALL kinds of appointments ~ some that she loves like Speech Therapy with Ms Gina and Occupational Therapy out at Children's where she gets to play. And MANY that are just no fun at all...doctors, shots, pre ops, post ops, ultrasounds, etc...poor girl! She now knows when it's just her and I in the car that we are most likely going somewhere not so fun.

Well, today was the first appointment for all of her Genetic Testing...mostly just a couple doctors and a genetic counselor sitting around talking with Brodie and I. But all Kaylee knew is that she got her height and weight taken and that was enough for her to shut down and snuggle up in Mommy's lap the whole time ;) She got home, took a bottle and was ready for a good nap!

We LOVED these doctors...so knowledgable and yet so understanding of Kaylee Grace and all that she has been through in her short time home. I loved that they will only be testing her for what they felt was medically necessary right now and the rest they will just wait and see if it is needed down the road.

As the doctors sat with us, they told us how "courageous" we were for adopting her despite knowing there may be some unknowns down the road. Ha! We giggled, and Brodie told them that we were BIG chickens and we never would have even considered adoption apart from feeling Jesus so clearly lead us...let alone a special needs adoption!

I love how Jesus LOVES the least of these...He so fiercely loves the fatherless...He SEES them - all 147 million of them - sitting alone, broken, in desperate need ~  and then He moves. Moves on the hearts of those who are not even really aware of the needs that are out there. Those that are so engulfed in their own lives that they think they couldn't possibly add one more thing. Those that need that desperate broken child just as much as that child needs a loving family.

And Jesus loves ALL OF US as much as he loves the orphan. He cares about us. Even when we are so wrapped up in ourselves that we don't even see our need for Him. He reaches out to us, too. He moves on the hearts of people around us to point us to Him; to show us that He is the ONLY WAY...because He knows that we are just as desperate for Him as the orphan is. We NEED Him. Not only for eternal life, but He truly is the only way to have peace. The only way to have joy. The only way to have hope.  Apart from Him, there is no joy or peace or hope at all.

"The LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love." Psalm 147:11

When we started this journey, this genetic stuff is what our local doctors here warned us about...the reason they advised us not to accept Kaylee's referral...PRAISE JESUS that He is WAY bigger and He led us to her despite what may have been the "medically wise" thing to do!

So, she will have some blood work done and then we will go from there.

We have great peace...Jesus is the Prince of Peace. We feel confident that He knit her PERFECTLY for His great purpose...and whatever Miss Kaylee's purpose is, we are SO thankful that He invited us to be a part it :) She is the sweetest little bundle of JOY and we know His plans for her are great!
